Treatment steps
Book your appointment with us.
Explain your concerns and let us investigate, diagnose and advise you.
Book in to repair your tooth with a strong and aesthetic filling.
Fillings are a very common dental treatment, used to fill cavities often caused by tooth decay or fractures present in the mouth. They stop any further damage, infection or sensitivity by rebuilding the tooth and restoring function, leaving the tooth strong and healthy.
White composite fillings blend perfectly with your tooth and can’t be seen when you smile or talk in a very aesthetic and functional repair.

What to expect when having a filling
We prepare your tooth for the filling, removing all the decay and giving it a thorough clean before ensuring it is completely dry.
The filling is colour matched to the desired shade and expertly applied in layers by our skilled dentists. We put the composite material directly onto your tooth, so we can fix your tooth in a single appointment.
We harden the filling and it sets immediately, so you can eat normally straightaway. We also polish your tooth, leaving it beautifully shiny and healthy looking.

FAQs
Why do I need a filling?
There are a number of reasons why you could need a filling. The most common is due to decay present in your tooth, which causes a cavity. Your teeth can also become worn by clenching or grinding your teeth, which could require a filling.
How long will my composite filling last?
Composite fillings are durable, and can last for around 10 years. They can be easily replaced when needed.
Can my composite filling be repaired?
Yes, as the composite material is able to bond to itself, it is very easy to repair small areas of damage to restore the filling to full functionality. In some cases, we may choose to remove the entire filling and replace it rather than repair, but we will discuss this with you beforehand.
Will my filling be noticeable in my mouth?
We colour match the shade of the composite material we use to ensure it blends beautifully with your natural tooth colour. This means the composite filling is near invisible once placed into your tooth.
Why should I choose a composite filling?
Composite fillings are now much more popular than the silver amalgam alternative, mainly due to their increased aesthetic qualities. Composite fillings are strong, durable and do not require any of your natural tooth to be removed to accommodate them. They are also completely free from mercury, an important consideration for some patients.
Do I have to wait for my composite filling to set before eating?
The beauty of composite material is that it hardens and sets immediately after being placed, so no downtime is required. You can eat and bite down on it straightaway.
